Our favourite foods to serve in our restaurant are the classics of German-Bavarian cuisine, appreciated in our region for generations. Tasty portions of beef or pork combined with hearty sauces and delicious sides are on the menu, as are light salads or freshly prepared fish dishes. You’ll find special treats for every taste on our menu! Take a seat in our cosy restaurant and enjoy specialities off the grill, braised meats or tender medallions fried to perfection. Our traditional hotel with 15 comfortable single, double, family and multi-bed rooms is located not far from the Schlossberghalle (events location in Starnberg) and a mere stone’s throw from the shores of the Starnberger See lake. All the rooms in the Gasthaus zur “Sonne” are simply but cosily furnished with modern technical equipment such as WiFi and TV. In the morning we serve a substantial breakfast including sausages from our own butcher’s shop.

The Starnberger See and its surroundings
The region around the Starnberger See has many destinations for excursions to offer visitors, as well as activities. Cycling and hiking trails with wonderful views lead you in the direction of Munich and along the shores of the Starnberger See, the Ammersee and the river Isar. Along with numerous options for water sports, there are also many sights worth seeing in this region. These include for example the Roseninsel (Rose Island), already very popular with the fairy-tale King Ludwig II and his cousin Empress Elisabeth (“Sisi”). A drive of about 30 km will take you to the hiking and ski areas of the Northern Alps.
